DAY - 1 SYDNEY - MAKASSAR VIA DENPASAR (D)

  • Flight with Garuda Indonesia via Denpasar to South Sulawesi (not included in the cost of the package). Arrive Makassar 06.50 pm
  • Direct transfer for dinner at Makassar Seafoodku Restaurant

You will enjoy Makassar city by night and take in the wonderful view of the city from your restaurant located on the 7th floor.

DAY-2 MAKASSAR - TANA TORAJA FULL DAY TOUR (B,L,D)

  • Depart Makassar by Trans Nusa Airlines 8B-644 at 8:45 AM
  • Arrival at 9:35 AM
  • After arrival, enjoy a full day exploring stunning Toraja. Firstly, you will visit Lemo to see rows of Tau Tau statues and the hanging graves. Continue to Suaya to discover the secrets of the baby trees, and then proceed to Londa to see ancient tombs in which the deceased were not buried, but placed among the rocks on the cliff face. The last destination on day one is Kete Kesu one of the oldest Torajan villages where you can see Tongkonan (the traditional ancestral houses, or rumah adat of the Torajan people), also witness the old traditional rice barns with colorful woodcarving. Truly memorable and so Torajan.
  • Lunch in the charming town of Rantepao.
  • Dinner at the Heritage Hotel.

DAY-3 SUNRISE AT LOLAI VILLAGE & FUNERAL CEREMONY (B,L,D)

  • You be picked up at 5 AM for the 45 minutes drive up the mountain to Lolai Village where you will see the beautiful sunrise from the heights. Lolai village is located at an altitude of about 1,300 meters above sea level, 20 km driving from Rantepao, the capital City of North Toraja.

Back to the hotel for breakfast and get ready for funeral ceremony if any.

If there is no funeral ceremony, then we continue exploring Lolai Village until

lunch time.

Back to the hotel for rest and relaxation so you can enjoy white water rafting the next day.

You may also swim and sunbathe at the hotel pool.

DAY-4 TORAJA WHITE WATER RAFTING (B,L,D)

  • After breakfast, be ready for a great soft adventure outing. Your coach will depart at 8 AM to Maiting River where you will enjoy the thrill of white water rafting.

The Maiting River flows through a dramatic forested gorge in the mountains outside Rantepao with both grades IV and V in the Rapids area. The swift flowing rapids and the cool water splashing over your raft are the best ways to travel through this grandeur and take in Sulawesi's incredible geography.

In the early afternoon, the take-out area of the white-water rafting is reached. After some cool refreshments, return to Rantepao.

  • Lunch is served in Rantepao
  • Transfer to the Hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY-5 COFFEE PLANTATION - SILK FACTORY - CULTURE PERFORMANCE (B,L,D)

  • After breakfast we visit charming towns Pedamaran, Rantebua, Bokin village, (about 14 kilometers from Rantepao) and Toarco Jaya Coffee factory.

Apart from its beautiful scenery and graves, Toraja is also known for its coffee, 'Kopi Toraja'. Toarco Jaya Coffee is one of the major local coffee producers that has been operated since 1976, selling its coffee domestically and internationally. 

  • Toarco provides Jeeps for visitors to look around the property and view the coffee plantation.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Next visit is Barana - the central of Toraja Traditional weaving garment factory. See the silk artisans at work and how this precious material turns into beautiful cloth and garments.
  • Our tour continues on to Rantepao market where you can shop for souvenirs or just browse or go window shopping.
  •  Before heading back to the hotel, we stop at a Toraja Coffee House for a relaxing break and enjoy local authentic premium Toraja coffee.
  • Back to the Heritage Hotel and free until dinner time.

DAY-6 TORAJA - MAKASSAR (MAROS KARST TOWER) - SYDNEY (B,L)

  • After breakfast prepare for check-out from Hotel
  • We head to the airport for your flight back to Makassar at 10:05 AM
  • Arrival at Makassar is 10:50 AM and there is another treat in store for you with direct bus transfer to Maros Regency to visit Rammang Rammang Village.
  • Upon arrival at the jetty, your Sulawesi river boat is awaiting (traditional canoe with engine) we then cruise the Puteh River. (Life vest provided). After half an hour cruising thrpugh unspoilt beautiful scenery, you will enjoy a soft trekking walk in Berua village surrounded by the limestone cliffs. The word “Berua“ is taken from the Makassarese language meaning “New“.  
  • Lunch and refreshment will be served at a local house. You may enjoy pisang goreng and Toraja coffee/ tea or young coconut.
  • Cruising back to the jetty and we head back to the airport for your flight home to Australia.
  • Garuda Indonesia flight departs Makassar 07.35 pm. Arrival to Sydney via Denpasar next day at 07.25 am (flights are not included in the package)

    Travel bag, one-day pack for trekking, duffle bags with padlock, rain coat, suntan lotion, hat, T- shirt, beach sandals (TEVA), comfortable walking / trekking shoes, binoculars, mini flash light with extra bulb and batteries, camera, towels, swimsuit, towel, anti-mosquito lotion, repellent. Please bring cash money (Indonesian Rupiah) for buying souvenirs and other personal expenses.

     

    Health:

    We recommend you to have a medical and dental check-up and strongly recommend you take anti malaria tablets if required. Please check with your nearest travel clinic for immunizations against tropical diseases. Should have travel insurance before departing from your country.

     

    Travel to the third world countries

     

    Facts: as you will travel to the “Wild area and a Remote place” in one of the third world countries, you may face the limitation of facilities, infrastructures, unpredictable weather and cultural differences can lead you to inconsistency in standards and can make you frustrated. Therefore you must prepare for the unexpected things and sometimes the arrangements are not possible you must go with plan B as arranged by the guide.
