Wave Rock & Pinnacles by air
After a one-hour flight over the foothills and inland farming country you will enjoy a ground tour of Wave Rock.
Experience the spiritual stillness of the Outback and the massive Wave Rock in the cool of the morning, before the lunchtime crowds arrive after their long morning bus drive. You'll also get to see the curious 'Hippo's Yawn' rock. You will have time for morning tea, to purchase souvenirs and if you wish, stroll through the wildlife park, Toy Museum and Lace Museum.
Afterwards, you will fly to Cervantes, a small fishing village where you will take a tour of the Pinnacles Desert.
These limestone pillars are scattered over a concentrated area, with nothing quite like it found anywhere else. We will then fly out over the Pinnacles and inaccessible Dead Pinnacles, then along endless beaches, to Perth.
For more than 20 years Kookaburra Air has run these day trips from Perth in small aircraft. Seeing Wave Rock and the Pinnacles by road takes two full days and many hours in a car or coach; the scenic flight saves that time and gives you longer at the monuments, and a view of the landscape from the air.
The programme:
- A one-hour flight over the wooded hills of Perth and picturesque farmland
- Arrival at Wave Rock airfield near the town of Hyden
- A tour of the unusual rock formations of Hippo's Yawn and Wave Rock
- A flight on to the coast, landing on white sand at the fishing village of Cervantes
- A 15-minute drive to Nambung National Park
- A walk in the ancient 'stone forest' of the Pinnacles
- The flight back to Perth with panoramic views of the Pinnacles Desert and the Dead Pinnacles, which can only be seen from above
Lunch is included. If you wish to visit only Wave Rock, you will have free time there to visit the wildlife park, the Lace Museum or the Toy Museum before the flight to Perth. Price on request. A guide can accompany you on the walks as interpreter and guide (guide services are extra).
Minimum of 2 adults.
