The Blue Mountains are named for the blue haze given off by the eucalyptus oil in the air, and are known for sheer cliffs, monumental rock sculptures, cascading waterfalls and clean, fragrant air.

One of the most famous views is of the Three Sisters. Your guide will tell you the Aboriginal legend of three sisters turned to stone by their own father, and who can break the spell.

The ride down the 52-degree incline in the Scenic Railway and the cableway takes you into the canyon to an old coal mine and a multi-level boardwalk through the rainforest, scented by more than 100 species of eucalyptus. On a walk to the 20-metre Minni-Ha-Ha waterfall you will see flora from the Jurassic period, including tree ferns and grass trees.

The Blue Mountains are also known for their charming towns, antique shops and private garden displays. On the way back to Sydney you will visit Featherdale Wildlife Park, with the largest private collection of Australian fauna, where you can meet a koala, see a wombat and feed the kangaroos.
