Brisbane, or 'Briz-Vegas' as it is affectionately known by Australians, is the subtropical capital of Queensland with a population of 2 million people, an outdoor city that combines old sandstone churches with new glass high-rise buildings.

Throughout the city are open parklands with palm trees and an extensive network of pedestrian and cyclist pathways along the banks of the river, among them one of the longest solar-powered pedestrian bridges in the world.

You will visit Mt Coot-tha Lookout with its sweeping panoramas of the city, Botanical Gardens, historical buildings and sites such as the Old Windmill, Customs House, Newstead House, Old St Stephen's Church, Old Government House and, of course, the majestic City Hall.

Finally, you head to Lone Pine, the world's largest koala sanctuary, where you will have the opportunity to cuddle a koala and see Australian wildlife up close.
