Tour in Cairns: Exploring the City and Its Picturesque Surrounds

The name 'tropical north' sounds paradoxical to Europeans, but in Australia it's a magical reality - the only place on Earth where two World Heritage sites, the Great Barrier Reef and the world's oldest rainforest, sit side by side.

Modern, colourful Cairns (population over 160,000), set on the shores of Trinity Inlet, is often called the capital of the tropical north and the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. The city's convenient location in the centre of North Queensland, along with its international and domestic airports, draws huge numbers of tourists from all over the world.

You will visit and see:

  • The open-air city lagoon pool with its sandy beach and distinctive tropical-fish design, considered Cairns' calling card
  • A historic street with preserved 19th-century buildings
  • The city's main waterfront esplanade
  • Cairns' administrative and cultural centre: the courthouse, art gallery, casino and the Cairns Aquarium
  • The picturesque northern beaches
  • The famous resort suburb of Palm Cove (30 km from Cairns)
  • On the way to Palm Cove you'll see trees full of flying foxes and a clearing with wild kangaroos (in overcast weather)
  • Optionally, a visit to the Zoo
  • Optionally, an Aboriginal cultural show

Entrance tickets are not included in the tour price and are paid separately
